The old Donald Johnson farm. My parents bought this place in 1992. My mother was pregnant with me while out garage sale hunting and there happened to be a yard sale at this home. While she was here, like many pregnant women, she needed a bathroom. The Johnsons welcomed her into their home and as she walked through the living room, she fell in love with a built in China hutch. About 6 months later she saw the house was for sale and my parents bought the house.

The property doesnt look like it did. The barn blew down in 98, if I can remember right. The house burned down January 2016 and the grainery burned Aril 2016.

The 2 big maple trees in the back yard blew down in some of the big windstorm that came through the late 90's. The 2 big maples in the front by the house are currently still there. At least the Giant pine trees are still growing. A signature to that property.

I had the honor to meet Donald Johnson and he shared the story of him and his Dad planting those big trees. He said he was just a baby and couldn't even get the shovel to break the ground.

New to the property is a mini orchard on the south side of the property of pear, apple, and cherry trees which my dad had started with us kids. The corn on the south side of the house (on the right side of the photo) is actually over the property line now.

It's a shame to have lost the buildings but I know my family and I will cherish all the memories and continue to build new ones.
