Silvercreek Township school in Jamestown and later Greeneview Central JH when a separate elementary school and high school were built. It was torn down in 2012 and the only hints it was there is the sidewalk leading to the front door and around the front wings of the building.

Additional views of this school are below; the first one is from a very similar perspective 31 years earlier.

This was my second grade and junior high school building. My second grade classroom was straight through the front door and slightly right, almost an alcove design. Greenview South (Jefferson Township) had only one 2nd grade teacher so we were bussed to Jamestown. I don't know about class sizes or accommodations at Greenview North (Ross Township)?

My 7th grade homeroom was behind the columns the top floor. I recall a unique view. My 8th grade homeroom was in the basement, far right in the picture, front. I rememer the view from thst top floor, looking vross thst expansive front lawn. So, I was in the building in 1973-74 and 1978-80 before we moved away.

Hello Jay,
Thank you for all the information about this photo. Do you have any interesting stories or details about the building from when you attended?

Angles. I recall the angles of the hallways. How the architect(s) squeezed in staircases around the stage and to the stage. The stairscase from the basement to the gymnasium on the south side(front) I don't recall how we how on the stage exactly? The staircase and its angles of it from the back, central entrance. The band room was under the seating in the gymnasium. I don't recall which side. The other side was the storage, I believe? I remember the big, expansive cafeteria in the west wing, under the gymnasium. I remember hearing the daily bouncing of basketballs on the hardwood floor above our heads while we ate and talked. We had a playground in the back but we were sometimes allowed out front, around the steps and about half way out to the flag pole only. The principal's office was in front, behind the columns, to the left of the picture. I was in there only once, 2nd grade, and that was enough. My mom did bring schools books that I had left once and reyrieved them in front of the office in either 7th or 8th grade?. There were stairs in lobby down to the outside doors. I had classes in all the rooms on the top floor, east wing front and 1 in the back.. The library was back, center with a portion sectioned of for a classroom. I had geography in that room. The music room was adjacent to my 8th grade home room. I had art class in the basement, north side as did industrial arts which was adjacent to the stair case beside my 8th grade homeroom and the South Charleston Pike side(east side). I remember the fire drills.

Are my recollections any help?

Hello Jay,
Absolutely, this is precisely the type of comments we are hoping to connect with these photos. Thanks!

You're welcome.

I see that my "fat fingers " made several typographical errors.
Continuing with angles, the central, north side stair case was adjacent to restrooms on the left side. Those restrooms were squeezed into a polygon as they set a straight wall for the beginning of the east wing.
I recalled the pretty sight over the espansive south lawn toward town whether green with grass or white with snow. Watching the snow fall on the yard was like looking at either a Christms card or a watching a movie-magical.
I recall the names of some of my teachers and what they taught, if that would be of interest to you?
My family moved away just prior to Christmas 1980.
I remember our (then) school color-Columbia blue.
I was a member of the Class of 1985.
I admittedly have a personal, selfish interest in Greeneview Central (Silvercreek Township School) as it was constructed the year my mother was born. My mother lasted 2-3 longer than did the achool building.
Now, I see they are wanting to construct an addition onto an existing school on Cottonville Road. A wise decision though I've wondered why a campus wasn't thought of in the initial planning stages? Construction of that addition will allow closure and demolition of the (then new high school). Sounds like the entire triangle will be abandoned in a decade? What will happen to the site? Perhaps a village park? Or a completely housing development? We'll see.
