Twelvemile Corner near Compton Illinois
This northeast quadrant of the Twelvemile Corner was the site of the Mobil Gas station, a restaurant, and motel at the crossroads of US 51 & US 30. As a kid, seeing the huge Flying Red Horse sign was always a thrill for me. "The Corner" (all quadrants) was a gathering place for the area.
