This is the old Wakefield Farm. Owned by my Grandfather Floyd Wakefield and Ora Jones.
17580 550 Avenue, Ames Iowa 50010

Hi there! Thank you for sharing the history of the Wakefield Farm. It's fascinating to learn about the previous owners and their connection to the property. We'd love to hear more about your memories or any changes you've observed since the aerial photo was taken in 1975. Can you tell us about the type of farming that took place on the farm?

Before I share more, can you tell me your connection to this?

Hi David, I do not personally have a connection to this photo. I am the customer relations and engagement manager at Vintage Aerial. Part of our mission here at Vintage Aerial is to encourage the sharing of our photo's history. We ask engaging questions in the hope of learning more.

Thanks for letting me know. You can never be too careful when giving out info.

It was a "Century" farm up to the time it was sold in 2020. I used to go back there and work the fields when I was younger. She grew corn and soybeans, and raised a few hogs. Most if not all of the barns are now gone. The old government bins still survive and there are more there now. A family member still owns the house, however it is no longer part of the farmland around it.
