This was the Fenton Shaw farm. It is now owned by Dennis Hussey.
In the 1880's this farm was owned by the Dilling Family. They had moved from Houlton to Easton. They were active in the education of their children, and responsible for the building of the Dilling Elementary School building that was located across the road from this house. It was built on the corner of the Mahaney Road (?) and the Mars Hill to Fort Fairfield Road. In the early 1880's, a lot of young men such as the Dodges, the Towles, and William Henry Dilling went west to California, Kansas, Colorado to seek fortune and adventure. They all came back to Maine. W. H. Dilling's mother would write him faithfully, no matter where he was. And she would usually end her letters by saying, "I must close. It's time for the stage coach."
