Leo's Mobil, Caribou. Main St.

This is South Main St between Hardison Ave W (left) and Crosby Ave (right) The building at extreme left is Joe Wakem's Columbia Cleaners and to the right of that is Ken Ginn's Mutual Motors (Dodge) used car annex. That small building had no foundation. A family of skunks took up residence under it and the building had to be torn down. Ken's brother-in-law Floyd Haines had the Mobil station next to that. The two-story building at the right is Gil Bouchard's By-Lo IGA (former Kaiser-Frazer dealership). The houses at bottom (L to R) are Darrell & Betty McDougal, Clayton & Tony Gagnon (Bob & Theda Bell Prudente lived on the second floor) and Allen & Ruth Curran. The house behind Columbia Cleaners is Hanley's (Judy Duprey's family)...the house across Hardison Ave W is Willette's and I believe the house on the SE corner of Lincoln and Hardison Ave W is Jalbert's. At extreme lower right is the edge of the Fox Buick-Pontiac lot (current location of Gagnon's Buick-GMC). All of the buildings on the east side of Main St are built on fill as the natural grade of the land is very steep.

I grew up in that house on the corner of Lincoln Street & Hardison Ave. East. Our parents, Euclid & Jeanne Jalbert & my 7 brothers & sisters lived in that house from 1952 (a few days after I was born) until 1988. Would love to have a close-up picture of our house, if possible.

The White House directly behind the car dealership with Eddie and Joan bishop and they raise three children, Vicky, Connie, and Bob.

Mom worked IGA for years......we lived in the apartments in Grant's Dairy just a few houses to the right of IGA. lived there from age nine to eighteen......graduated CHS in 64.

I can verify most of everything that was said here already and add a few more facts. Continuing down hill on Hardison, next to Euclid and Jeanne Jalbert, is where I lived. My parents were Ned and Elna Bouchard and they had 2 girls: Kathaleen and Elaine. (Me) We were there from 1948 to 1960, and then moved across the highway to the other Hardison Ave. Across from us was the home of Rita and Earl Woods of the Caribou Fire Department. No children. Next to them in the darker house was Ken and Thelma Scott with daughters Susan and Barbara. All wonderful neighbors.
